On April 3, 2009 I visited the Marine Corps League in Terre Haute. I noticed that the U.S. flag and the Marine Corps flag were in horrible condition, very tattered on the ends. I asked about the flags, and I received the following answer, "We don't have any extra, and we won't for a while." I suggested that under the strictest of flag protocols that it might be best not to fly them at all, rather than to desecrate our National Colors. I left Terre Haute on April 5, and drove by the Marine Corps League. The tattered flags were still flying. The Terre Haute Marine Corps League is on my shit-list. They should know better, and it embarrasses me; I am a combat Marine from the Viet Nam War.
